Join Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Athletic Training and Sports Performance for an open house at its state-of-the-art facility in Warrenville. In addition to tours of the facility, attendees may participate ina series of informative "mini-presentations" and demonstration activities.
Exercise is Medicine: Steven Mayer, MD, will discuss how the right “dosage” of physical activity can be highly effective in the prevention, treatment and management of many diseases. Presentation scheduled at 530P & 630P in Suite 200.
Elbow Everuse Inuries in Sports: Richard Makowiec, MD, will discuss surgical and non-surgical treatment of elbow injuries caused by excessive flexion-extension stress on ligaments, tendons and muscles. Presentation scheduled at 545P & 645P in Suite 100.
Common Foot & Ankle Injuries: Gregory Witkowski, MD, will discuss lowerextremity injuries and various options for treatment. Presentation scheduled at 530P & 630P in Suite 100.
Rheumatoid Arthritis: Corrine Weckerle, MD, will discuss symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Treatment overview will include pharmaceutical as well as holistic options. Presentation scheduled at 545P & 645P in Suite 200.
Dartfish Running/Gait Analysis: Jim Beitzel, ATC, will demonstrate Dartfish motion analysis software, which collects detailed information relating to improper body mechanics, existing muscle imbalance and gait, and will explain how this information can be utilized to mitigate injuries and improve performance across a variety of sports. Demonstrations will occur throughout the evening.
K-Vest Golf Swing Analysis: Mark Demchak, ATC, will demonstrate the K-VEST wireless system, which measures a golfer’s stance and swing phase while compiling 3-D data that allows athletic trainers to teach proper mechanics for efficiency and maximum performance. Demonstrations will occur throughout the evening. Also in attendance will be representatives of Northwestern Medicine Physical and Occupational Therapy groups to answer questions about the benefits of therapy.
